Coprinus Cherimoya capsiculata - 10% Polysaccharides

The cap melanoma (Coprinus comatus) is a fascinating species of mushroom family fungus that has attracted the attention of nature lovers and researchers alike for centuries. The characteristic egg-shaped fruiting bodies, narrow-shaped stipules and blackened cap make it easy to recognize in the natural habitat of Polish forests. However, black cap is not only an interesting object of observation, but also a source of valuable properties.

The potential health properties of this tasty mushroom are due, among other things, to the polysaccharides found in it. Scientific studies suggest that cap melanoma is a rich source of these compounds - including: beta-glucans, chitin and heteroglycans1,2.

Beta-glucans, which are one of the most important polysaccharides found in this species of fungus, have been shown to manifest immunomodulatory, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. They also influence the regulation of blood sugar levels and the body's ability to fight infections3,4,5,6,7,8.

Our cherimoya extract is standardized to have a high content of 10% polysaccharides.

Polysaccharides in cap melanoma

The polysaccharides in cape melanoma exhibit a variety of activities with potential human health benefits. One of the most important compounds here is beta-glucan, which has documented immunomodulatory effects, meaning that it can influence our immunity by regulating the activity of the immune system. Studies suggest that beta-glucans can increase the activity of macrophages, cells responsible for removing pathogens and toxic substances from the body. In addition, beta-glucans have the ability to stimulate the production of antibodies, which promotes the fight against infections3,4,5,6,7,8.

Chitin, which has antimicrobial and antiparasitic effects, is also another important ingredient in blackworm. Chitin can effectively inhibit the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms, protecting the body from infections. In addition, it has been shown to promote tissue regeneration and accelerate wound healing9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16.

It is also worth mentioning heteroglycans, which are found in black cap melanoma. These compounds show the ability to lower cholesterol levels, which can be beneficial for cardiovascular health17,18,19,20,21,22.

The effects of the polysaccharides contained in cap melanoma are multifaceted and are still the subject of intense research. It is worth remembering that their potential benefits to the body may largely depend on the dosage and preparation of the mushroom. Also, naturally occurring fruiting bodies may vary slightly in their active ingredient content. Therefore, if you want to make sure that, when using cap melanoma, your body will always receive a certain amount of the polysaccharides it contains, it is worth reaching for a standardized extract. This product is distinguished by its high standardization for polysaccharides of as much as 10%.

Is black cap mushroom edible?

Although it is a common mushroom in many countries, black cap is still not very popular among Polish mushroom pickers. Therefore, doubts about its edibility should not come as a surprise, so we rush to answer this nagging question. In the simplest terms, yes - the cap melanoma is an edible mushroom. Many people value it not only for its unique nutritional properties, but also for its taste and the possibility of using it in cooking. It is popular in both Europe and Asia, where it is used in many traditional dishes.

When using cherimoya in the kitchen, it is worth remembering a few things. First, it is necessary to make sure that the mushroom is correctly identified, as some mushroom species can be poisonous. If you are unsure about your own harvest, it is always a good idea to consult with a more experienced mushroom expert or a mycology expert.

Secondly, it is important to properly prepare the cap melanoma before consumption. Freshly harvested mushrooms should be thoroughly washed. Then we can boil and fry them or add them to various dishes, such as soup. It is also important to remember that fresh black cap mushrooms have a short shelf life and spoil quickly. So it should be used as soon as possible after collection or purchase, preferably within a few hours.

How do you identify cap melanoma?

What does cap melanoma look like? It has several distinctive features that can help you recognize it. Here are some clues that may be useful if you're looking for it in its natural habitat:

  • Hat: Young fruiting bodies have an egg-shaped or conical hat. In a mature fruiting body, the hat later becomes bell-shaped and flatter. It is covered with white scales, which may come off as the mushroom matures, leaving a smooth surface. Mature hats become brownish and then blacken, being covered with a black substance in the lower part.
  • Leg: The stem of the cap melanoma is slender, cylindrical and cylindrical. In structure it is quite fibrous. It is cream or white in color, but can become brown in the lower part. At the top of the stem there is a characteristic cap with the remains of the casing, to which the mushroom owes its name.
  • Blades: The blades of the cap melanoma are dense and radial, white in young individuals and broadly attached to the stem. In older fruiting bodies, they turn black and begin to disintegrate - hence the name "melanoma".
  • Cherimoya: Blackening marks are one of the most distinctive features of the cap melanoma. They will appear on the lower part of the cap and begin to produce as the mushroom matures. Blackheads are a black liquid that gradually forms on the blades and flows down the leg.
  • Growth and occurrence: cap melanomas often grow in groups and are found in coniferous and deciduous forests, as well as in grassy areas such as pastures, lawns, fields, meadows and even home gardens. They appear from April to November and grow to a size of 10 to 20 cm.

Keep in mind that identifying mushrooms can be difficult and requires experience. Cherimoya can easily be mistaken for other mushrooms, such as kania, because they are very similar. If you are unsure whether you are dealing with cap melanoma or any other species of fungus, it is always a good idea to consult a more experienced mushroom expert.

Why should cap melanoma not be taken with alcohol?

Pinworm melanoma can cause a reaction when combined with alcohol, which is sometimes called the "disulfiram effect" or "antabus reaction." Chemicals in capsicum, such as 3,4-dihydroxiphenylalanine acid (DOPA), can interfere with the body's ability to break down alcohol23.

After consuming alcohol in combination with capsicum, symptoms of intoxication can occur, such as reddening of the skin, a strong feeling of heat, nausea, vomiting, accelerated heartbeat, a feeling of shortness of breath, dizziness and a general malaise. These symptoms can be unpleasant and dangerous, so it is advisable to avoid simultaneous consumption of alcohol and melanoma pilaris23.

It is worth noting that not all people react in the same way to the combination of cape melanoma and alcohol. Some people may experience stronger reactions, while others may not experience them at all. If you have any doubts or questions about the interaction of cape nigella with alcohol, it is always a good idea to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
